Business backlash to discrimination law is vocal, unprecedented in NC

House Bill 2 continues to make waves across the state. The new law overturns local non-discrimination ordinances, prohibits discrimination lawsuits from being heard in state courts, and requires people to use public bathrooms that match the gender listed on their birth certificates.

The legislature’s passage of the law has led a surprising number of businesses and individuals to speak out against it. The list includes YouTube, Starbucks, and even Bruce Springsteen, who cancelled his Sunday concert in Greensboro.

But why are so many getting involved? John Thomas reports that the answer isn’t a simple one.
