UNC biology professor makes loggerhead turtle breakthrough

The loggerhead sea turtle makes a five t0 ten year trip around the Atlantic Ocean once in its life, starting near Florida and going past western Europe and northern Africa, before coming back. The most interesting part? They instinctively know how to return home.

UNC biology professor Ken Lohmann made the breakthrough in understanding just how the turtles know where home is. Dr. Lohmann is currently at the southeastern regional sea turtle conference in Georgia but has taken the time to join us.
