Rep. Valerie Foushee’s primary race was unusually close. Were voters sending her a message?

Fourth District Congresswoman Valerie Foushee is likely headed back to Washington for her third term. But that next term may be influenced by a primary election this week she barely won.

At least, that’s what Nida Allam’s supporters hope. The challenger – who ran an anti-establishment campaign –  says the close race signals the Democratic Party needs to change.
