UNC’s decision to merge Library Science and Data Science schools leaves department members uncertain

Chancellor Lee Roberts has said that his big vision for UNC largely focuses on the university becoming a leader in artificial intelligence. Last month, UNC announced its School of Information and Library Sciences will merge with the School of Data Science and Society. This new school with include AI as part of its mission.

Department members were not alerted before, leaving many students, staff and faculty concerned about the future of their programs.
