First Amendment Day takes on added meaning amid threats to speech and academic freedom

From last year’s pro-Palestinian protests to current controversies over secret meetings and a professor’s suspension, free speech has been at the forefront of campus consciousness. This week, UNC celebrated its yearly First Amendment Day with events highlighting censorship and academic freedom.

And as Brooks Stevenson reports, those current events dominated much of the day.
