Drinking raw milk is becoming a more common holistic practice, as farmers have found ways to work around state bans on unpasteurized dairy products.

Farmers and advocates – including Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. – say unpasteurized milk is healthier. But many doctors and researchers warn the risk of bacterial contamination outweighs any potential benefits. And some raw milk drinkers have learned that lesson the hard way.
