Prices of groceries, other student necessities could soar because of President Trump’s tariffs

Wall Street was in turmoil this week after President Donald Trump instituted sweeping tariffs, saying foreign trade and economic practices have created a national emergency. Virtually all nations now have to deal with a flat 10% tariff on all goods imported to the US, but some countries have a tariff as high as 50%. Meanwhile, consumers around the U.S. are trying to figure out how the tariffs will affect them.

Carolina Connection’s W.H. Hayes is joined by Andrew Greenland, an assistant professor of economics at North Carolina State University to discuss the implications.
