For over 40 years, racially restrictive covenants dictated where people could and could not live in Wake County. Hundreds of volunteers have identified over 15,000 such covenants hidden in historic property deeds. Now, that data is publicly available through the Register of Deeds.

Community members and volunteers joined to celebrate the culmination of the project at the Wake County Justice Center Wednesday.
