To Dean or not to Dean: Students want the potential Smith Center replacement to remain on campus

For more than a year, university leaders have been trying to decide whether to renovate the Smith Center or build a new arena. Many of the sites UNC is looking at are off campus.

Supporters of an off-campus location say it will allow the university to make more money. Some opponents worry it would hurt downtown businesses. And many students feel they’re being left out of the equation.
