After nine months as UNC’s Interim Chancellor, Lee Roberts now has the job permanently.

The Board of Governors unanimously agreed to hire Roberts in August, and he was officially installed Friday.

The decision to keep Roberts is not without controversy, as he has faced criticism over his qualifications. Opponents also say he was too heavy-handed in his response to pro-Palestinian protests in the Spring. During the ceremony yesterday, Students for Justice in Palestine protested again, calling for his immediate resignation.

Carolina Connection’s Sarah Ellis reports.
