UNC among universities discovered monitoring student social media

This week, the Dallas Morning News reported that UNC and several other universities use tracking software to monitor students’ social media accounts. While one purpose for that may be trying to detect students who present threats to campus safety, the article reported that colleges are also using it to keep track of protests.
