New policy restricts work of campus civil rights center

The future is unclear for a center at the UNC law school that fights discrimination in North Carolina.

Members of the UNC System Board of Governors this week told the Center for Civil Rights to temporarily stop taking new cases.  The Board will also  study whether to stop the center from getting involved in lawsuits permanently. Critics say that would eliminate an important resource for impoverished minorities in the state.
