A new UNC initiative will try to make housing more affordable

North Carolina’s housing market faces serious challenges, with 28% of households cost-burdened – especially renters. A new UNC program, “Our State Our Homes,” aims to address housing disparities and expand access to homeownership.

Reversing an earlier ruling, an NC court has blocked the use of digital OneCards as voter IDs

In August, the NC Board of Elections announced that UNC’s digital ID would be allowed at the polls as a voter ID. But state and national Republicans challenged the decision, and now the NC Court of Appeals has sided with the GOP.

The Ackland is helping colorblind people enjoy great works of art

In a partnership with EnChroma, colorblind visitors at Ackland Art Museum in Chapel Hill are now able to use color corrective lenses in the galleries. EnChroma has a similar partnership with the Davis and Health Sciences Libraries on campus that began in early 2023.
