UNC Board not close to decision on health merger

Friday, UNC’s Board of Governors discussed the possible merger of UNC Health Care and the Carolinas HealthCare System, but is not close to making a decision.

The proposed merger would bring together two of the largest health providers in the state. They say that will make medical care more accessible for rural areas, but health insurance company Blue Cross Blue Shield says the merger would raise health care costs.
