UNC students among those pushing for a DACA extension

Some members of Congress want their colleagues to replace DACA before the year ends. That’s the Obama-era policy that offers children of undocumented immigrants protection from deportation.

The Trump Administration announced it would end the program next March unless Congress acts.

UNC officials estimate about twenty DACA recipients attend the university, and more than 27,000 recipients live in the state. Some of them gathered in Raleigh for a protest this week.
