Last week, a former student was charged with arson and other felonies after an intentional fire damaged the 300-year-old Davie Poplar tree on campus.

A professor tried to put it out, but was blown back by an explosion.  Astronomy professor Dan Reichart suffered second-degree burns on his face and arms.

He’s using the situation as a way to raise money for other people.
