New patch provides diabetics with needed insulin, less pain

Insulin injections are a nuisance for people with diabetes. Researchers at UNC-Chapel Hill and N.C. State are working on another way to administer the drug: a smart insulin patch, which is the size of a penny.

The patch measures the body’s blood sugar levels automatically.  It may lead to less pain and greater accuracy when people take insulin.
