Legislature defunds UNC education think-tank

Governor McCrory signed the state budget September 18, which cut some funds to higher education

The University system has less money to work with again this year, but Chancellor Carol Folt says the exact amount and ramifications of the cuts are unknown at this point.

One place where UNC has taken a major cut is the Hunt Institute, a UNC-affiliated think-tank. Its state funding was cut entirely. And some Raleigh political observers say the decision to cut the funding wasn’t just about the dollars.
