Discovery could make major impact on genetic research

by Louis Fernandez

We inherit our genes from our parents. Half from our mom, half from our dad, right? Well, some UNC researchers found out, it’s not that clear cut.  We mammals, actually use more of the DNA that we inherit from our dads. What exactly does that mean? Well, besides mother’s day being a little more awkward this year, it could be huge for the future of genetic and disease research.

Two of the main authors on the paper, Dr. Fernando Pardo-Manuel de Villena and Dr. James Crowley join us now to discuss their findings.
