Obama plan may relieve student loan debt

Roughly a third of UNC students graduate in debt from their student loans. And according to UNC’s Office of Scholarships and Student Aid, the average amount they have to pay back is 16-thousand dollars.

But those students may get some relief. President Obama unveiled a plan this week to help them manage their college debts. Here to help explain it to us is Lauren Asher, the president of the Institute for College Access and Success. It’s a non-profit organization devoted to making college more affordable.
