Budget could affect UNC prospects

By Debbie Vu

While the North Carolina Legislature is finishing up its second month in session, UNC leaders are waiting to just how much will be cut from the university budgets

The state is working to close a $2.5 billion budget gap, and Governor Bev Perdue and the Republican legislature haven’t agreed on what to cut. Either way, the UNC system expects to lose a significant amount of funding.

Some parents of prospective UNC students are worried about how the potential cuts will change the qualityand cost of a UNC education.
