Barnes & Noble to operate UNC Student Stores

UNC Students Stores has been at the center of campus life for 100 years. As other university bookstores privatized and were bought by national chain stores, UNC’s remained university-run and self sustaining. As the school year comes to an end, an era is also ending at UNC.  For the first time in university history, a private company – Barnes & Noble– will take over the Student Stores.  The announcement this week came after months of negotiations between university officials and potential bookstore buyers.
