UNC professor looks at relationship between race and police

By now you’ve probably seen the viral video of a South Carolina police officer tossing a student from her chair after she refused to give up her cell phone. It was the latest of several viral videos that some say show police using unnecessary force against African Americans.

While this incident was in a school many cases involve traffic stops.  A UNC professor has spent the past four years sifting through 20 million records of North Carolina stops that the state has been collecting since 2002. Political science Professor Frank Baumgartner joined us to talk about his research.
