Spellings picked to led UNC system

by Sarah Thomas

The UNC system will have a new system president come March. On Friday, the Board of Governors selected former United States Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings.

It’s been a contentious process ever since current president Tom Ross was forced out of the job in January for reasons critics say are political. The search for a new leader led to some serious tension among the board members and the legislature.

UNC hope that Spellings’ election will put the controversy behind them.
