UNC hit with discrimination lawsuit

by Jess Clark

UNC and Harvard are facing lawsuits from an organization that says the colleges’ admission policies discriminate against high-achieving white and asian students. The newly formed Texas group called Students for Fair Admissions filed the lawsuit. It claims two applicants were refused admission to UNC because of their race. Both applicants are white.

The group’s Edward Blum says the university is not complying with a 2012 Supreme Court ruling that limited the use of race-based admission policies.
